Parent / Guardian Consent Form
This consent form explains what child data A Scholar collects, why it is needed, how it is used, and how timestamped consent evidence is recorded.
Please Read This Form Carefully
By completing your A Scholar subscription and confirming this consent, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to the collection, use, disclosure, storage, and processing of your child's personal data as described below.
About This Consent
Under the Singapore Personal Data Protection Act 2012 ("PDPA"), A Scholar must obtain valid consent before collecting, using, or disclosing your child's personal data.
Your child cannot consent on their own behalf for A Scholar's service. As the parent or legal guardian, you are providing consent on the child's behalf.
What Child Data We Collect
We collect only the child data needed to provide the service:

We do not ask for your child's full name, NRIC, school name, class, photograph, or biometric data.
We minimise child identifiers, but the information we collect may still be personal data because it is linked to your parent account.
How We Use This Data
We use your child's data only to:
- display practice results and progress in your parent dashboard
- generate Readiness Index and Performance Band scores
- show worked answers and explanations after parent marking submission
- improve practice paper quality using anonymised or aggregated data where possible
- operate, secure, and support A Scholar
We do not use your child's data to:
- train artificial intelligence models
- display rankings or comparisons with other children
- sell, rent, or trade data
- share with third parties except where needed to operate the service
Who Sees This Data

No other parent or student can see your child's results.
Hosting And Processing Region
A Scholar's Supabase dashboard currently shows the project region as
ap-southeast-2, which Supabase identifies as Oceania (Sydney). This may
involve processing or storage outside Singapore.
Before production launch, A Scholar must confirm the exact hosting region, transfer safeguards, and vendor or subprocessor list through legal review.
How Long We Keep This Data
We generally retain child data for the duration of your subscription plus one (1) year after it ends.
After this period, data will be deleted or anonymised unless retention is required for legal, accounting, fraud prevention, dispute resolution, regulatory compliance, or legitimate business record purposes.
You may request early deletion by emailing privacy@ascholar.academy.
Withdrawal or deletion may prevent A Scholar from continuing to provide the service.
Your Rights
As the parent or guardian, you may request to:
- access the data we hold about your child
- correct inaccurate data
- delete your child's data from our systems, subject to legal and operational limits
- withdraw consent at any time

We will respond within 30 calendar days or notify you if more time is required under applicable law.
Consent Evidence
When you confirm this consent, A Scholar records timestamped and versioned evidence of the consent event.
This may include:
- parent account/profile identifier
- child/student identifier
- document type
- document version
accepted_attimestamp with timezone- source UI/action
- IP address where technically and legally appropriate
- user agent where technically and legally appropriate
- audit log or system record linkage
withdrawn_attimestamp if consent is later withdrawn
This record is kept to prove what you consented to, which version you consented to, and the exact date and time of consent or withdrawal, including in the event of a dispute.
Your Confirmation
By completing your A Scholar subscription and confirming this consent, you confirm that:
- I am the parent or legal guardian of the child I am enrolling, or I otherwise have lawful authority to provide this consent.
- I have read and understood what child data A Scholar collects and why.
- I consent to the collection, use, disclosure, storage, and processing of my child's personal data as described in this form and the Privacy Policy.
- I understand that A Scholar records timestamped and versioned evidence of my consent.
- I understand that I may withdraw this consent by contacting privacy@ascholar.academy.
- I understand that withdrawal of consent may prevent A Scholar from continuing to provide the service.
This consent is governed by the Singapore Personal Data Protection Act 2012.
